Thursday the 13th of October 2011 was the launch night for Shandon Century Extra Stout at the Franciscan Well Brewery in Cork, Ireland. Ireland is known for its stouts, the most famous being Guinness, Murphy’s and Beamish. This weekend, a friend brought a couple bottles of Black Rock  Irish Stout over for us to try.  Generally, I prefer lighter beers so I was a bit wary at first. Friar Wiesse German style Weisse beer (4.7% abv) brewed at the Franciscan Well in Cork, Ireland Appearance: A rich dark amber cloudy beer with a fine head.  The carbonation is mild and pleasant.
