Kinsale Pottery and Arts Centre
This afternoon, I attended a Pottery taster class at the Kinsale Pottery and Arts Centre. It was a 3 hour course where we had the opportunity to make a pot, wall hanging, and sculpture in one afternoon. The class contained about 10 people and was a lot of fun. Cloonmore Pottery Delicate clay votive candle holder from Cloonmore Pottery near Carrowmoreknock, Rosscahill, Co. Galway. Lovely light sea mist green glaze inside and out. Attractive crackle effect in the glaze. Rice was added to the clay before firing. During the firing process the rice kernels burned off, leaving that part of the clay thinner for a nice effect when holding a lit candle. O’Neill’s Pottery
If you enjoy handmade jewellery from Ireland, I would highly recommend a piece from O’Neill’s Pottery shop on the Grounds of Bunratty Castle. I received the one photographed in this review as a gift and I love it. The disk is clay with an attractive swirl design. It has a bronze-like glaze on the front highlighting the design.
